IWG at the Better Future Fundraiser
A joint effort by the Irish and Portugese embassies led to a beautiful evening of goodwill and fundraising on the banks of the Chao Praya.

We had about 10 members attend with partners and friends, some were sitting near our Thai GAA friends, some were spread out at tables all over the expansive lawn. The evening was kicked off with an Irish music performance, and we watched Irish step dancing as we tucked into a delicious 4-course meal.
Celebrated Irish designer Helen Steele gave us a high-color fashion show. The hosts, Portugese Ambassador Francisco Vaz Patto and his partner Dr. Kevin P. Colleary, gifted Sr. Louise Horgan and the sisters with a statue of Our Lady of Fatima they had purchased for her in Fatima, Portugal!
The Good Shepherd sisters were delighted when Dr.Kevin read them a letter that was written by their head of mission in the Vatican, praising all the hard work they have been doing for the past 50 years with the at-risk and impoverished women and children in Din Deng.

After some delicious deserts and more dancing, our ladies perused the silent auction, which had a great array of bags, jewelry liquor and art. Our own Emma Boudah from Spokes Jewelry donated a gorgeous gold pearl necklace. The highest bid was fellow Dubliner, Aidan Killian!
