TG4 LGFA All Stars at Chulalongkorn
The best players in Ireland traveled to to Bangkok to play an exhibition game on St.Patrick’s day. Every 2 years, players are selected for their skill and talent, and are rewarded with a foreign trip and a holiday. The 40 athletes were accompanied by LGFA staff and TG4 media. They stayed at the Anantara Siam, and joined the Irish community for the Chamber of Commerce Shindig.
Members of the Thai GAA as well as Irish Women and their kids came out to Chulalongkorn University on St.Patrick’s day to witness the game. The ladies played a full 60 mins, and despite the 37 degree heat, kept up a blistering pace. It was a highly competitive and entertaining game, won by just 1 point by the 2016 team.
Girls from the Fatima Center traveled into town to partake in a skills coaching session. After as shy start, their competitive nature took over and they were flying in and out of drills. After their session, they were awarded balls and Jerseys by Marie Hickey, President of the LGFA. The girls also served as the welcome tunnel, waving the players on to the field before the game.
